Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry holds a separate Undergraduate section and a Post graduate section.
POSTGRADUATE EDUCATION PROGRAMME IN PEDIATRIC AND PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY
This programme provides seminars, workshops, journal clubs, inter department meets, clinical education, etc in the period of three years dental curriculum and imparts thorough knowledge and skill in evaluating clinical findings and planning proper treatment. Efforts are channelized in creating students who could be an asset to the society in the field of pediatric dentistry. It also focusses on instilling a positive dental attitude in children through effective behaviour guidance and provides best quality treatment.


UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION PROGRAMME IN PEDIATRIC AND PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY
This programme includes lectures, classes, clinical experience and clinical educating in the time of multiyear dental educational plan and also facilitate learning and help the student to gain sufficient knowledge on the development of child, dental diseases so that the student gains sound foundation to understand the common dental diseases and institute most appropriate treatment.
Clinical practice includes exposure to behaviour management, preventive aspects such as brushing, flossing and fluorides, early detection of caries and its treatment. It also promotes student centred learning by combining traditional teaching techniques with innovative teaching methods.

PRACTICE BASED TEACHING AND LEARNING:
The learning scenarios are optimized to better suit the treatment needs of the patient, thereby improving clinical expertise. Here the faculties are highly qualified and supportive. They help you to get in depth knowledge about the subject also they help us to enrich with a very practical insight in relation to theoretical knowledge .The department is well euipped when it comes to dental care. The department has good number of cases. The teaching programe includes the basic medical science also. The detailed documented records are to be maintained by students for all the academic activities,preclinical work, case done along with special case done under General Anaesthesia and conscious sedation. The students will be specialized for managing the children so as to provide the effective and efficient treatment .Students have won best paper and poster in competitive category[ ISPPD] conferences. Being a part of IDS family is a pride and honor as our faculty always work for the betterment and welfare of their students .
The faculties are the best mentors as they are extremely knowledgeable and always ready to guide. The department has a good patient flow and is well equipped with all the latest technology that is being used in pedodontics. Recent behaviour management techniques , child counselling , managing special care needs children , conscious sedation are all practised. Many workshops , conferences, CDEs and webinars are also conducted which makes the students to learn things in an interactive manner.
NEWER TEACHING LEARNING METHODS:
BLENDED LEARNING- It is a combination of traditional face to face learning and technology based learning. It is great for both students and teachers as it uses enough technology to keep students focussed and interested, but it also provides opportunities for students to talk in person to teachers and fellow classmates which can be invaluable.
